Home of Southwestern University, founded in 1875. The State of Texas granted the Union Charter in 1875. The university had been in existance for two years prior under the name Texas University. To date SU retains it's historical affiliation to The United Methodist Church. SU averages 1200 students each year from across America and from 20 other countries. SU also is known as a top Liberal Arts university.
