Central, Downtown & East Austin, Texas
Listed in many publications and talked about nationwide is the growth in Downtown and East Austin, TX area.
Have you heard the term SOCO....What is SOCO....South Congress area...lies just south of downtown and the Colorado River(Lake Austin or more recently named Lady Bird Lake), and just north of Hwy 71 or Ben White Blvd. SOCO is a "walking" community...with lots of shops, restaurants, apartments, cool motels/hotels, gorgeous old homes, and new upscale lofts being built. It is Austin's premiere Ecclectic zone...fun, lively hangouts and great places to eat, listen to music and live close by.
Low Rise and High Rise ....there are more than 49 new and remodeled condominium and loft buildings in various stage of construction in downtown, SOCO and East Austin.
As the skyline changes the the influx of infrastructure increases, you will see upscale grocery stores, fine restaurants, hotels, apartments, uniquie retail stores, physical fitness centers, and of course more live music in all venues....from small clubs to the new Long Center and the future Austin City Limits to be located in the new under construction Austin Music Hall (which will be on the same property with the W Hotel.)
East Austin is the area just east of I-35 east of downtown. Over the last few years there have been many indiviuals, developers and builders buying, remodeling, some tearing down and rebuilding of new properties in East Austin. There have been a number of buildings that have condos on top and retail space in the bottom. These are great for entrepreneurs, and artisans that want to live and work in the same location. There has been a number of properties revitilized by the City of Austin in East Austin. We still have a lot of growing pains but hopefully the ole tried and true friendly Austin hot spots will persever and we will be able to grow the old with the new. Through it all there is a growing buzz and abundance of energy coupled with our traditional Texas friendliness in all the conversations about the growth we are experiencing.
Downtown and all of Austin offers live music venues....a little something for everyone. After all we are the "Live Music Capital of the World" comes see us, and have some fun, you won't want to leave.
